Course Information

AICP’s new The RTO Standards Unpacked! course is the only Compliance professional development that your RTO Compliance staff will need to ensure your RTO’s ongoing compliance obligations are met.

The course consists of 3 components which are accessible in 3 staggered stages to ensure course participants have sufficient time to absorb and reflect on the information provided in each component, before moving onto the next.

The course has been designed by Alex Schroder, Australia’s leading Sanction Management Specialist, Forensic Compliance Auditor and Administrative Appeals Tribunal Specialist. She is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a qualified lawyer. As a member of the inaugural ASQA Stakeholder Liaison Group (SLG), which is made up of RTO providers and VET sector consultants focused on advising ASQA on the expansion and continuous improvement of its regulatory engagement and education, Alex serves on a number of SLG subgroups focused on self-assurance, audit practices, online learning in the VET sector, and VET delivered to secondary school students.

Alex is also the CEO of VETPrep Australia, Australia's leading RTO advisory and compliance rectification consultancy. With a stellar reputation for developing Compliance Rectification and Business Continuity strategies for RTOs facing regulatory sanctions, the VETPrep team are expert at VET regulations and legislation, and compliance rectification.

Alex's unsurpassed passion for VET compliance resulted in her developed the CIV in RTO Compliance and the Diploma of RTO Compliance Management. Following requests from the VET sector for entry-level RTO Compliance courses, Alex designed the non-accredited Foundations of RTO Compliance course and the Foundations of RTO Compliance course.

A large number of Clauses within the Standards for RTOs interact with one another and without a comprehensive understanding of each clause and the relationship between the various clauses, your effectiveness as a compliance practitioner is limited. In this component, we unpack the Standards to a practical level where the meanings and interpretations of each Standard/Clause are explained for everyday use.

This component goes more in-depth than Component 1 of the course and explains in detail how to use the Standards in the management of your RTO's compliance systems. ​

This course component should be undertaken by anyone who has an interest in RTO Compliance management, and specifically:

•  Compliance Consultants

Component 2 of this course further unpacks the requirements of the clauses within Standards for RTOs and goes more in-depth than Component 1.

In this component, we explain in detail how to implement the Standards for RTOs in the day-to-day management of your RTO's compliance systems and operations to ensure your RTO meets its regulatory and legislative requirements.

Component 2 also examines methodologies for Self Assurance, which is part of the new ASQA regulatory management system.

This component covers the following:
• Introduction to RTO compliance

• RTO Compliance evaluation
• Quality and compliance
• Prepare compliance evaluation report
• Provide compliance recommendations

• how to develop essential compliance documents such as Training and Assessment Strategies etc
• ensure your RTO’s trainer and assessor credentials meet the requirements of the Standards for RTOs
• ensure your RTO’s validation strategies and activities are compliant and meet the requirements of the Standards for RTOs
• undertake and document comprehensive and compliant industry consultation, and more!

This component goes more in-depth than Components 1 and 2 of the course. In this component, we look at how to rectify the most common non-compliances identified by the Regulator. ​
